The World is Flat...........INT202 Class

I have learned a lot from Thomas Friedman and his discussion on how the world is flat, not actually but economically, technology and many other things that is driving everyones economy. I like how he described "positive imagination" and I totally agree with it because this type of thinking is something that needs to be instilled in everyone. When we have "positive imaginations" on life we are all much better to get along and help one another instead of going at each others throats and hurting others around us. I try to be a good example and try to be positive about negative things even when it is easy to probably have a "negative imagination" because I don't want to really hurt others.

I really like the idea that Friedman has of "export hope not fear." We as a nation need to be the example of hope that anything is possible and show others that it's ok not to be afraid. We are one of the top countries economically and we need to give and show that hope to others around the world. Of course we need to be subjected, humble and fear the Lord, but we need have no need to fear man and what they can do, so I think that I could better instill this in my own life and help others is to have more hope and trust in the Lord and look for ways to better give and help my brothers and sisters wherever I may be.

Also Obama spoke about helping the those nations who aren't flourishing and need our help, I really hope that he will stick to his word and help those that need it, whether in the united states or the third world countries who are poor. I don't really know how I can personally do what he is calling for except to help those who need help and work beside them to try and make everything better for them. I think that one resource consumption that I could try and do better at preserving is electricity and water, like not leaving the water on when I brush my teeth, I have a bad habit of doing that sometimes!

And school is in session once again......

So, today was my first day back to school at Byu-Idaho in Rexburg. I got in to town, after getting lost, kind of late, so today I finally finished unpacking!!! I am taking 14 credits, 4 classes on Mon/Wed and only 2 on Tues/Thurs, it is definitely going to be a long week. I am so excited for this semester I have 5 awesome roommates, and one of them include my mission companion Laura and so far I am loving it!! We even have a class together, Preparation for Marriage cause her goal is to get married next year on my birthday, she is so funny!! :) Last night I also got to see my old roommates Leslie and Jamie, and then today my old roommate bonnie came over with her husband mark to pay me a visit, I sure do love them all and am so excited to get to be around them while I am up here. I also have seen 2 elders from my mission, Brown and Staber! I don't know what it is about this semester, but I am just so excited and feel so much more confident in the things that I am doing here and I know that it's going to be great!!!!!! :)
